When was the last time you've been in a cemetery? 

Afterlife is a redesign of the traditional Backgammon game. Taking the original Backgammon layout and the same number of pieces, a new experience is created through the addition of a narrative, and the modification of a key game concept - how you win.

The game is a result of dozens of play-testing sessions, testing the huge scope of possibilities and obstacles unlocked by each small change. The final board and pieces are made of black acrylic using a laser cutter and engraving machine. 

In traditional backgammon, the pieces move around the board in a cyclical manner to reach a goal of sorts. In the modified version, the endpoint of the pieces are removed, and the new method of winning is by "cornering" the king.
